A FABULOUS UNIQUE Antique Art Deco Jazz Age, stylised chrome, Blackamoor brooch. The face has wonderful detail on the eyes, nose and lips, along with a rather scary or startled expression. The chrome is still lovely and shiny, yet it also retains a wonderful aged patina, so I haven’t polished it. On the reverse there are dark patches which can be seen in the photos – this is the patina.
It’s such a tactile piece – nice to hold in your hand and just run your fingers over it. It fastens with a very early hand-made safety catch on the reverse – indicating that this is a really old, artisan made, piece.
