VERY RARE Old Original Antique Black African American Ethnic Composition Doll. Rag Doll. Sawdust Filled. Unique, Hand Made, One of a Kind.
Perfect For a Collector!
A very charming and totally unique hand-made antique African composition doll. The doll is quite tall at about 12″. She is made in a lovely patterned burgundy cotton material, with a blue patterned skirt and a headscarf, with flowers and butterflies – the combination is really wpnderful.
The face is adorable and the painted eyes and lips have survived well. There is some light surface wear to the face, commensurate with age (and playing 😊). There is a small hole under the arm, where the sawdust stuffing is falling out. I will try to prevent any further loss and will keep these bits for the buyer. There is what appears to be a very old green paint mark on one leg (please see photos). She will need a little TLC.
Highly sought after and collectable.
I do not know her age, but would guess she was made in the very early 20th Century, if not before.
