A beautiful early vintage Art Deco real mink fur butterfly brooch, with sapphire blue diamante rhinestones set into the gilded body, along with simulated pearls. All the stones and ‘pearls’ are present. You can tell that this is a Rare early example, because the brooch has been made on a brown bakelite type of early plastic backing (the later ones had velvet). The gilded brass body is really pretty, quite Egyptian Revival in style. There is a little bit of surface wear to some of the ‘pearls’ but you really wouldn’t notice this unless scrutinising the enlarged photos and it certainly doesn’t detract from its immense charm. The brooch fastens with an early C catch.
