A beautiful and unusual antique Art Deco Venetian Murano African Trade Beads Necklace, made up of vibrant blue beads with red and white markings, black beads with a contrasting red and white trailing pattern, along with horn/bone beads in brown and black. All of the beads were hand-made by artisans, each varying in shape, size and design. There is a lovely tassel drop at the front.
The metalwork, I believe is chrome plated brass. The chrome plating has worn back in places commensurate with age (mostly on the chain, but in other places too). I think this just adds to its immense charm and shows that it is an older piece. It fastens with a bolt ring clasp, but is long enough to go over the head on most ladies without undoing the clasp.
