Description
RARE Antique Victorian Ridgway MILAN Jug Rare Jasperware Pitcher 19th Century Staffordshire Pottery. Decorative Use Display.
Time period: Victorian
A beautiful Rare Antique Ridgway Potteries ‘Milan’ Jug Design No1. It is such a classic, in Stoneware I believe. It has a wonderful ridged design in pale blue/grey, with gorgeous cobalt blue matt glaze around the neck. This is a very old piece, which has been in my family for many years. It has a hairline crack across the base, extending across part of the body (please see last two photos). This is stable, but sadly as a result it will not hold water. So it would need to be reserved for display only. Other than this, it is in very good original antique condition, with no chips or repairs. Any white marks in the photographs are just reflections.
Stamped on the base ’30, MILAN No1′
Measures: just under 6″, or 15cm height
These ‘Milan’ jugs rarely come up for sale and are Highly Sought After and Collectable.
