Step back in time to the glamorous world of a Jane Austen novel, with this breathtaking antique Georgian Regency sentimental hair locket brooch. Hand crafted in pinchbeck and chalcedony, with a central gallery of rock crystal, which contains the Sweetheart’s woven hair. The wonderfully large piece of chalcedony has a gorgeous bevelled edge, as does the rock crystal gallery. The chalcedony also has a beautiful glow when it catches the light. I have tried to show this in the photographs, but it is rather difficult to capture.
The lovely scroll design is typical of the regency period, made in pinchbeck, which is wonderfully shiny even now and could easily be mistaken for real gold. The brooch fastens with a simple C clasp. The elongated pin extends well beyond the frame, to accommodate the thicker fabrics of the day.
