A stunning antique Georgian extra large pinchbeck mourning/sentimental locket brooch, with woven blonde hair. The central gallery which contains the hair is encased in rock crystal, this has an attractive bevelled edge. The locket is set onto a beautiful piece of chalcedony, again with a bevelled edge – this has a wonderful glow to it when it catches the light. I have tried to show this in the pictures, but it is rather difficult to capture.
The lovely scroll design is typical of the regency period, made in pinchbeck, which is beautifully shiny and could easily be mistaken for real gold. The brooch fastens with a simple C clasp. The elongated pin extends well beyond the frame.
