A super rare and beautiful antique Bohemian Czech, NEIGER Brothers dress clip/brooch. Hand crafted in gilt brass, with a fabulous enamelled Egyptian Revival design, set with turquoise Peking glass high dome cabochons. The piece has a nice aged patina and the gilding work is still lovely and shiny. The clip on the reverse is still strong and has teeth to keep it firmly in place.
Measures: 2” wide x 1¾”, or 50mm x 42mm
There have been many Egyptian Revivals, but probably the most notable was in the 1920’s when King Tutankhamun’s tomb was discovered by Howard Carter in 1922. This generated an enormous amount of interest and the world went crazy for all things with an ancient Egyptian theme.
