Circa 1930’s – 40’s
Fabulous vintage Art Deco dress/fur clip/brooch in a leaf and fruit design, with gilt copper leaves and imitation pearl fruit. It is a really unusual piece which I believe is an early unsigned Miriam Haskell. She did make quite a few vine leaf dress clips in various designs. Her early work was unsigned – she didn’t begin to sign her work until the early 50’s.
It has a wonderful aged patina and looks particularly stunning with the two colours of the gilt and the copper. The clip on the reverse is working well, with teeth to keep it in place. There is some surface wear to the gilding on the reverse, commensurate with age, but I think this just adds to its immense charm.
Measures approximately just shy of: 2″ x 1.5″ or 5cm x 4cm
