A beautiful and understated vintage Art Deco Venetian Murano millefiori beads necklace. The beads are unusual in that they are not the usual vibrant clashing millefiori colours, but a soft combination of brown, black, and yellow, with white accents. The beads were all hand-made by craftsmen in Venice; they are all matched and similar in size. Each bead is adorned with pretty lacy caps. The necklace is hand-knotted on the original string, which not only denotes high quality, but makes it strong and hang well. It closes with a screw barrel clasp, and there are two chrome plated clamshell calottes on either side of the clasp. It’s possible that these clamshell calottes are not original, as the screw clasp is made of brass, but if they are replacements, they were added a long time ago.
The beads are in Lovely Condition, with no damage that I can find.
Nice length – not too long and not too short: Measures approximately : 23″ or 58.5cm
The beads measure approximately : 8 – 9.5mm
