A beautiful and luxurious pair of aurora borealis Swarovski Austrian crystal solitaire clip-on earrings. The enormous crystals are held in place by crown settings and are attributed to the highly regarded firm Schoffel. To all intents and purposes the earrings look exactly the same are a pair, with the same crown settings, but one earring has an open back and the other a closed back, so they must have come from two different pairs originally. The silver tone metalwork is a little tarnished here and there, as is to be expected with pieces of this age and one of the crystals has a tiny chip, but you really don’t notice these things when wearing.
The crystals are so dazzling and sparkly – they flash pastel rainbow colours whenever they catch the light. They are a lovely large size, but being solitaire, they are not over-the-top and quite understated for aurora borealis earrings. The clips are strong and working well. Quality vintage earrings.
