A really pretty and unusual antique Art Deco JAKOB BENGEL silver tone filigree negligee necklace, with gorgeous pale green Uranium glass baroque pearls and ‘pearl’ drop to the centre. I have never seen one of these Bengel filigree necklaces made with ‘pearls’ before. These glass pearls are very unusual, in a pale green colour, also they are quite transparent when held up to the light and they glow bright green under a UV light. This is due to the trace uranium content, which is worth noting is totally harmless. I have come across just a handful of Jakob Bengel necklaces with Uranium glass beads – they are extremely rare and highly collectable.
The necklace fastens with a bolt ring clasp and is in wonderful condition for 100, or more, years old. From Idar-Oberstein in Germany.
Jakob Bengel did make filigree pieces, as well as the shiny chrome which he was renowned for.
