Vintage Wedgwood Black Urn Vase Mid Century 1960s Ravenstone Satin Matte Glaze Classic Home Decor. Present Gift.
Dated 1967
A striking 1960s take on a neoclassical form, this urn vase was designed by Wedgwood’s innovative works manager, Norman Wilson. Part of the “Ravenstone” collection – the black counterpart to the creamy “Moonstone” range – it features a satin eggshell black glaze over a cast stoneware body. This smooth, vitreous finish beautifully accentuates the minimalist, neoclassical silhouette. While other shapes followed, this urn, with its wonderful ‘shell’ handles, remains a mid-century Wedgwood classic.
This piece has belonged to my family since new.
