A Breathtaking Antique Art Nouveau Bohemian Czech uranium glass, faux carnelian and faux rock crystal beads necklace, which is just Fabulous! Made up of beautiful large olive shaped uranium glass beads, and heavy lead crystal glass beads, graduating in size, to very large and chunky at the centre. From the historic Kingdom of Bohemia. The Czech’s were expert at emulating precious stones with glass, and this is no exception – it looks exactly like real carnelian and genuine rock crystal! These types of imitated stones are becoming more collectable than the real thing. The only way to tell that the ‘carnelian’ beads aren’t the real thing (apart from the fact that it glows under UV light) is because there are air bubbles present and agate doesn’t contain air bubbles. The faceted lead crystal glass beads have nice crisp facets and also expertly mimic rock crystal. All the beads are in wonderful condition, with no damage that I can find.
There is no clasp, the necklace just goes over the head and is very easy to wear. The beads are hand-knotted, denoting quality and the string still seems good and strong. You just can’t beat a hand-knotted necklace for strength and durability over time. It is such a lovely elegant length – I just love these long graduating necklaces, they are so elegant.
