Description

Vintage 1950’s Baroque Style 18th Century Design Domed Top Jewellery Trinket Box Joseph Terry & Sons Ltd 1767 Chocolate Box. Antique York Scene. Film Stage Prop.

Circa 1950’s

A very charming vintage Chocolate Box, from Terry’s of York – the makers of ‘Chocolate Orange’.  Just perfect as a Jewellery/Trinket box.  It is in the shape of a Treasure Chest, with a wonderful domed top.  It features lovely scenes from 18th Century England, from in and around York, where Joseph Terry & Sons factory was established in 1767.  Their confectionary was in high demand and they even supplied the late Her Majesty The Queen with chocolates!

The box is a work of art in itself and is very well made.  It is made from card and is in amazing condition for its considerable age – the colours are still very bright, with lovely gilt decoration.  The interior is lovely and clean too.

It’s a good large size and will hold quite a lot of jewellery and trinkets.

Please note that the paper ephemera which would originally have come with the box (in the last photo) is pictorial only, just for information, and not included, but is widely available to download on the internet.

Measures approximately: 8.25″ x 4.5″ x 4.5″ at the highest part of the domed lid

or 20.5cm x 11.5cm x 11.5cm

in Excellent Original Vintage Condition
