A very elegant and classic vintage Art Deco, string of lustrous simulated pearls, gently graduating in size, with a 9ct Rose Gold clasp, by renowned makers – CIRO. The ‘pearls’ are a lovely pale cream colour and quite small. This is an early example by Ciro. The necklace fastens with a 9ct Rose Gold push-in early tube clasp, stamped ‘9ct’ and ‘CIRO’. It has a tiny ding, but you really don’t notice it with the naked eye. It still works perfectly and closes with a reassuring click. A lovely length – not too long and not too short.
Ciro was first established in 1917 as a mail order company, they later went on to open their first shop in Bond Street in 1920. CIRO pearls were handpicked and consisted of a shell core. The surface was made of pure mother-of-pearl from oysters. This made the CIRO pearl the first attractive and inexpensive alternative to real pearls, which were very popular (and have been ever since).
Everything is ALL ORIGINAL.
