A fabulous antique Art Deco Bohemian Czech cobalt, or lapis blue, poured/pressed art glass beads faux blue agate necklace. The Czechs were expert at making glass beads which emulated real gemstones and these have become even more collectable now than the real thing! These beads are no exception – they imitate a deep Blue Lace Agate amazingly well.
The string had broken next to the clasp. Thankfully, none of the beads had been lost, but the necklace would have been extremely short originally. It has therefore been professionally re-threaded, using all the original beads and findings, along with Czech cobalt blue spacer beads. Please see final photo of how it was before it was re-threaded. I am sure you will agree, the re-threading with spacer beads not only elevates it and gives it a wonderful eye-catching look, but also makes it an extremely wearable length. It is just raring to go now!
The beads are in wonderful condition, with no damage that I can find. The necklace fastens with the original bolt ring clasp, which is one of the earliest versions of this type of clasp. Signed ‘Czechoslovakia’ on the jump ring. Highly collectable.
